AHMEDABAD: On Sunday, six students from the city were awarded for their performance in a national essay-writing competition, which took place earlier this year. The list of names include Aayushi Joshi, Avani Sangani, Milan Zala, Ujjwal Sinha, Shruti Agrawal and Sonam Bajaj.
Jointly organised by United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan and Shri Ram Chandra Mission, the contest was conducted in educational institutions across India.
Nearly 50,000 students participated in this event from Gujarat while 5 lakh entries were received from across the country. The United Nations had declared 2009 as the International Year of Reconciliation. Inkeeping with this theme, students had been asked to pen their views on ways and means to enable reconciliation in a world increasingly challenged by bigotry, hatred and war.
